Adding supers to the hives

Although neither brood boxes were fully full, I thought I'd add a couple of supers to the hives. We still have quite a few weeks of summer left, and the Japanese Knotweed has not flowered yet, but as there's stacks of it along the river, when it does flower I can see the bees bringing in stacks. Last year I had a national hive of bees in my woodland completely fill a super with wax starter strips within 10 days. I doubt I'll see that happen again, but maybe they can achieve something close to it in the next 50 days or so.

as an update, I left those frames on top longer than I said, it's now a wet miserable Tuesday so took a quick look, the bees had totally cleaned out both frames, saved all their own honey going to waste
