Planned works and competition time
Having chatted with the gardener that looks after the grounds around our flats, he expressed his dislike of a shrub that had overgrown into a tree like state within the secret garden area, I offered to remove it over the winter months which made him happy, of course it'll also mean there's a gap, big enough to place another two hives in.
So today I made up another hive stand, I already have one national hybrid hive on site, another new flat pack one is in the attic, that'll be built in the next month or two, and hopefully we can get this area cleared within the next month, I've decided to bring the two hives I have at the woodland back here, as they are 2nd year colonies they should get off to a good start in 2017, rather than me waiting on swarm collections, any spare swarms can go back to the woodland.
OK, onto competition time, for any geeks that follow this blog and are budding designers, I'm after a label for (fingers crossed) next years honey.
if you can come up with designs and send them to me, if one is chosen to be used, you'll win a ross round and jar of flow frame honey
It needs to fit on a label 50mmx 75mm
here's an example label.
but of course, a different picture is wanted, I have the idea of a simple black/white design similar to this picture below, but of course a lot less detail, with perhaps one basic color
it does not need the child in it, or does anyone have a better idea on a design for the secret bee garden
