yesterday & today
I returned home yesterday early evening and was met downstairs by the gardener who looks after the communial grounds around our flats, he commented on what a nice swarm I had at the rear of the property, I asked him to show me what he meant, fearing the worst that a hive had swarmed this late in the season, when I saw what he was talking about I was amazed, it had been a swarm, but around 5 months ago, and they had stayed in the bush and set up home, expanding into a very large colony,
so after calling a bee buddy, I set up preparing to transfer them into a national hybrid hive today.
matt arrived at 11am and we started what we expected to be a hetic task with so many bees, approx 60,000.
we needn't have worried, the bees were very docile and I only recieved two stings to my finger tips, and that was probably due to squashing some bees
